Alice Roux
French designer and decorator based in Brussels, Alice Roux is fascinated by the concept and notion of "decor": the sense of space, imaginary places and unusual architectures. Her visual vocabulary develops around the notions of volumes, light and space.
Inspired by the work of Sonia Delaunay and her exploration of the media and techniques related to applied arts, Alice Roux experimented with multiple practices before devoting herself fully to her work as a designer. Nourished by her experiences in scenography and staging, her “painting-furniture” is defined on the border between art and design.
Each object she designs is made of walnut and then covered with acrylic painted patterns before being lacquered with resin. A technique that took her a long time to perfect. The result is a thick and transparent texture, which seems malleable.
Elementary architectures marked by a geometric pictorial language, sometimes organic, colorful or monochrome, his pieces offer the vision of a universe of enveloping shapes and colors.
